I've been trying to come up with something as good as the Jersey Theory, but I guess I have nothing of substance to add.

Go easy on him, he's lonely these days because he doesn't have Grimace and Fudgie Wudgie to lead cheers for any more.....

  4. If you have a disagreement with the premise, then be a grown-up and explain your disagreement with it instead of taking snide shots at other posters.

Not every premise deserves to be dissected. A simple "that's stupid" suffices for plenty of them. Which is different from "you're stupid," which could be defined as a snide shot at a poster ... and different from the two posts which took snide shots at other posters which you conveniently left out when you quoted every other post made during this discussion.

How do you explain the adulation for musicians, actors and others? Are dads dressing up like the Jonas Brothers or that guy from Twilight?

Women throw themselves at star1 athletes because they're celebrities.

1I'm guessing Scotty Brooks didn't have chicks riding in his limo when he was with the Rockets.

Wow. You’re giving me more attention than Ben Roethlisberger if he was standing next to you at a bar. And my pants are on.

Completely agree with this. I could never fathom wearing somebody elses name on my back (and I am a huge sports fan)

So you wear jerseys with your own name on the back? That's even worse. :)

That is absolutely in the same ballpark and people who do that might as well put "loser" on their back

I will wear team gear but not jerseys, just a personal preference. I did have a Larry Bird jersey when I was younger but it only had the number and not the name.

I like to ask them for their autograph.
