Ron Mexico jerseys are perfectly acceptable though.

I have a Brad Maynard jersey. Other than him, I refuse to put an athlete's name on any articles of clothing I wear.

I like to wear my Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf jersey when I turn my back to the National Anthem at my son's Little League games.

I'm pretty close in age to those girls (though the topic has taken a slight left turn), and I can tell you there's also a lot of romantic fantasizing that goes on, particularly with teenaged/college-aged girls and unmarried athletes. You fool yourself into thinking that he might fall in love with you if he just gets to know you, that you can "fix" this habit of exposing himself and drunken come-ons because he'll find you and get to know you and fall in love and that fixes everything. Women usually grow out of that, but that age or slightly younger is prime time for it.

21 (or was it Lugnuts? maybe both) is also right that this is an entirely different type of person than girls of that age are used to. Frat boys will do stupid shit like exposing themselves or acting like controlling assholes at party, but they're mostly harmless when you get them away from their drunk comrades. Professional athletes are an entirely different breed of person, but college kids haven't been in enough situations to know that yet.

Odd, but the stories I read about that night in Georgia reminded me of something one particular group of frat boys pulled more than once when I was in college. Nobody was ever able to bust them because none of the women ever followed through with the police, but the details were very similar.
