I think your hope stems from the Steeler Brethren factor, is all.

I thought the article made some good points, and no doubt the player's union should be paying attention. However this line:
Never before has a player been suspended from a league for something that is entirely of a private nature.

... can be disputed. As someone noted here, John Rocker was suspended from MLB for a number of games without pay, for derogatory remarks he made about fellow Americans (who might have been gay, had blue hair, had four kids, did time, spoke with an accent, etc.).
Would Goodell be offended by certain speech? By someone who criticizes "queers with AIDS" (channeling Rocker), or a player who rips 20-year-old women who have kids without being married ... or players who have several kids without being married? What are Goodell's moral standards?

But would he be this passionate about it? I don't think so.

Eventually, you'd think a person would be able to make their point and walk away. Now we're thirteen pages in ... and won't stop until lockdown.

Apparently my reputation for being stubborn as all hell has been conveniently forgotten.

Also funny how the people who are going on about my fanboyishness ignore the fact that I have been critical of the Steelers on this thread and on this board.

Yes, oop, you're so well-rounded. You talk about the Steelers, the Steelers and the Steelers. And the Steelers.

Does it ever bother you that you are wrong so often?

We're in the midst of he biggest day of the NFL offseason, so if you're such an NFL fan, why have you been absent from the draft thread? You are the definition of a fanboi. You go on and on and on and on about your beloved team, but you don't know shit about anything else. Now back to your regularly scheduled ranting.
