Big Ben's Night Out

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Azrael, Apr 15, 2010.

  1. I'm not saying that sports aren't interesting. On the contrary. But I don't think the people who play them are necessarily very interesting, at least not inherently.

It'd be one thing if Roethlisberger was (a) extremely physically attractive or (b) absent that, exuded some sort of alpha male suave sexual vibe. I sense none of that, however.

It's not about his attractiveness, it's about an ego boost.

There are a million plumbers and investment bankers. There's only one quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Young woman thinks: I'm pretty enough to get the attention of the QB of the Steelers. I must be worth something.

Luggy and 21, I am going to try and say this correctly...

Waylon, there is no way a man can undertand what woman thinks or can place himself in her shoes. It cannot be done. They are diferent than us and are wired differently both physically and mentally.

You need to understand that and repsect that at all times.

If Luggy and 21 says something is so when it comes to a woman, it's so.

  4. I guess. But if the QB of the Steelers turns out to he a total d-bag, and that is evident immediately, I don't understand the attraction, even if he's the only QB of the Pittsburgh Steelers (which means zilch to me).

Hey, I get that this is how people react, men and women alike. I just can't relate at a gut level, and I'm trying to do that. I mean, is this another situation where it's women not so much trying to get the guy as they are competing with other women because they think that other women want this guy, too, or would be impressed?

In other words, it's not really about Ben Roethlisberger. Or even men.

  5. And please understand this isn't a plea for women to only go after "nice guys." This has been addressed in another thread. I think "nice guy" is a euphemism for "Guy who acts nice for the wrong reasons."

But there's middle ground between "nice guy" and "clear asshole who wants one thing tonight and one thing only that I'm not actually attracted to."

In other words: in that room, he's the alpha male.

Now put him in a room with Timberlake, DiCaprio, Jeter, Mayer, Phelps and Brad Pitt and let me know how he does.

If girls want the "nice guy" Not would have never had a 65 page thread.

Anyone with sisters has seen a douchebag like Roethlisberger giving her the full-court press, either on a dance floor or elsewhere. It doesn't matter what their bank account or level of notoriety is, these guys want one thing and one thing only, and usually as quickly and conveniently as they can have it.

    You forgot Tiger Woods.

  10. But only because of his status/occupation?

    Is this debate serious?

If Ben Roethlisberger is in a bar and I'm in a bar, I and everyone in the bar will be buzzing about Ben Roethlisberger being in the bar. Why? Because freaking Ben Roethlisberger is in the bar! That's where the attention is, and if you can be the center of attention of the center of attention, well ...

    Nothing else matters!

I'm not sure how complicated this is: she's a drunken sorority girl on a pub crawl in a one-horse Georgia college town. She's flattered as hell that the alpha male tags her, but thinks she'll be able to steer things safely. Up to a point, she does. Then things go sideways and here we are. What's to decode in that? How many NFL quarterbacks do you think roll through Milledgeville most Thursday nights?
