I'll bet in that movie most people would mispronounce Boise just like in real life.

I know what you mean. I've lived my whole life biting my tongue when I hear people pronounce it: Appa-LAY-chun. Here it's called Appa-LACH-un.

That drove me nuts, too. Pronounce "Appalachian" correctly, eh? It's not "Appy." If you bust Michigan at The Big House, the least ESPN and its immortal talking heads can do is get the name of the school correct.

The Sox no-no was fresher when the 11 p.m. EDT SC came on, but Appalachian State was - and is - still a bigger story.

Appalachian State fans can crow all they want about their pronunciation.

ESPN butchered Luhl-Vuhl as Lou-E-Viille enough last season as many times the Cards were on its stations.

Lulvul is just barely two syllables. If you're real Kentucky, it's like one and a half. Kind of like the street in Owensboro, Fredericka, is Fred-eh-ca if you're from there.

Not really. If you're from southern Ohio or Indiana it gets pronounced the same way. Just because you heathens insist on mispronouncing it doesn't mean the rest of us do :D

    I'm a Yankee, and I pronounce it Lou-ah-vuhl.

Did anyone see the Appy State students tore down the goalposts at their own field?

Just happy that it still goes on.
