  1. You have to take Baron's WWE dolls out of his cold, dead hands.

I don't own an iPhone, nor to I subscribe to Extra Innings or have DirectTV. Haven't been to a concert in, oh, perhaps 15 years. I go to 1 or 2 MLB games a year and sit in the nosebleeds. Once every few years, I see the local minor league baseball team.

Yep, I'm living the high life.

Sorry, don't own any. I think I have a Steve Austin shirt lying around somewhere that I haven't worn in years. That's my WWE collection.

Aim high. Don't settle for a shekel less than you are worth.
The newspaper business needs you far more than you it.
That's the dirty little secret in boardrooms.

I still bet your income could support a *bunch* of third-worlders.

And the blame for that goes squarely on the unions themselves.

Does everyone in the company really allow them to be the best? So I guess the guy cleaning the office at a failing corporation just isn't doing his job and helping the CEO. But the guy at Apple just does a better job sweeping and mopping.

All depends on the corporate culture. Heck, Steinbrenner once fired a secretary for bringing him the wrong sandwich. He considered that to be important, while most of us would consider it petty. Another example: some companies demand employees keep neat desks. Other than the possibility of disorganization, a neat desk does little to affect an employee's performance or the bottom line. Yet, the company wants it done for appearances to reflect corporate culture.

If the corporate culture is such that everyone is considered responsible for the company, then yeah, the janitor will be seen as an important member of the team. If they don't, then they have a culture of selfishness, which means everyone will be doing as little as they can get away with. And then the company suffers.

Plenty of blame to go around on this one but I agree. People who fail to organize themselves and bargain collectively don't get a whole lot of sympathy from me.

Brilliant. Go start your company and see how this works for you...

You don't believe morale has anything to do with a company's success?

    I keep re-reading his post.

I just don't see that point made anywhere in what he said.

(Though, he may include it in the "overrated" thread.)
