There is something unseemingly foul about all of jason's writing. Like a stench you can't get rid of.

Kudos to ESPN for doing such.

Yeah, God forbid someone actually able to form a coherent thought disagrees with you and seeks answers.

Fenian Bastard is asking legit questions in a respectful way. I know I personally am on board with his line of reasoning here.

You can't just dismiss these things.

Even if Sportsbruh is an utter moron.

    Welcome to the board Mav...

Forget about what the bigots, white KKK and racists think. If any are swayed by frank, open, honest and earnest conversation about race, great. But I'm not holding my breath.

I do think there is value in the discussion, though. I too believe it's a "we" problem, not a "them" problem. I'm just tired of "us" accepting, excusing, rationalizing, ignoring, etc. certain behavior in public discourse, yet criticizing it in private.

Keeping it to ourselves hasn't worked. This might not work either. But it's worth a shot.

    You got it MAVRICK

jason writes like he's not of the black race, like he's so succinctly different and distant. Actually, you'd think he hates black folks. Look at the way he attacked Scoop and belittled Vince Young, et al.

Now, Look at where they are NOW!

then consider the source: a grotesquely morbidly obese mean man.

    I rest my case.

thanx for the welcome, bruh. i agree with everything you posted. and by all means, if your job is to write, put it out there. and if youre trying to help, do that. however, again, i really dont think the tone in which the article was written served any higher purpose. the message was lost in the shock value.

Wasn't there also a backlash against Bill Cosby when he attacked the anti-education mindset of some blacks?

What does his weight have to do with anything, SB? And since when is Whitlock supposed to write to lift up a race, mav? Is Rick Reilly supposed to write to uplift the white race?

I just noticed that a record number of people were on this site today--375 at one time--and I'll guess it's related to this thread.

Seems all the media is a-twitter over this story today...

Yes. He got ripped by some, particularly one Michael Eric Dyson, author of the book: Debating Race; Come Hell or High Water; Is Bill Cosby Right? Or Has the Black Middle Class Lost Its Mind?

I haven't read it. But Dyson has been a stringent critic since Cosby made the remarks (which turned into a tour of sorts).

well, rick reilly never claimed to want to lead the "new civil-rights movement" either. just check out his old tag. "Where real fans and bloggers are welcome and Bojanglers go to die. ...

and youre right, no need for name calling.
