i find it most cowardly (and quite fitting) that whitlock hasnt the balls to join the conversation that his drivel started. and whats worse is that he is obviously reading it. it only confirms my initial feeling......he isnt interested in dialogue. he is interested in promotion and self-aggrandizement. congrats, whit. we'll take it from here. like we always have to do.....

I love how the parties have changed in taking on big pee. It's like an old fashioned tag team. 92Bdad you are next up.

ah Mavrick I was coming around on you to. "We'll take it from here. Like we always have to do " sounds kind of hostile.

What other columns has Whitlock written that left you holding the bag?

Hey Chee, just so you know, you've come off like the biggest jackass on this thread (amazingly enough, considering the content and some of the participants). First of all, you know exactly why Simmons doesn't write about the issues he's calling Scoop out on. You're just waiting for someone here to say why that is so you can puff your chest and hint at that person being a racist. Well, that's bullshit. If Simmons tried to write about the things he mentioned, he'd be raked over the coals on here (possibly by you) for being a white guy trying to understand a black man's plight. You can go ahead and disagree with me on that, but you'll be making even more of an idiot of yourself. Scoop is in a unique position as a black person with a nationally-read column, in a space that, more or less, was OCCUPIED by Ralph Wiley. That's why it was appropriate to bring up Wiley - because Scoop has in essence been given the "Wiley seat" at ESPN, and he's using it to apologize and sweep things under the rug. That's something RW never did, for better or worse.

i wasnt referring to another article. and i wasnt referring to whitlock or anyone in particular. i was simply pointing out that those who are truely concerned about a problem, invest themeselves in the solution. isnt that what we are doing here???

If Scoop really did once say he was going to try to take on a role similar to Wiley's, then it is absolutely fair game for Simmons to call him on it when he fails to do so.

By who? The media appointed Jesse Jackson brigade?

Did Ms. Cleo bless you with the ability to read the future? What Simmons said was undeniable TRUE. It's funny, the very things Simmons sited has been said by numerous black people. Trust me. I've been around enough black folks to know that Simmons words ring true.

So please, stop creating the wrath of black boogiemen that would be angered at Simmons for speaking on the double standards against blacks in the media. I think we'd welcome that.

The problem here is that people like yourself are quick to tell black folks to put in check those amongst our ranks that carry racial bias. But when a black person suddenly asks someone like Simmons to do the same regarding those of his own who act in the same manner, even when he HIMSELF acknowledges it, out comes the "he doesn't write about that type of stuff" clause.

    How friggin one sided.

I am very happy to carry on my own debate. I was merely pointing out the irony of big pee becoming a lightening rod for almost the entire membership. That status puts him in high cotton with the likes of Peter King and Mike Lupica.
