Chee, let's find some common ground.

Scoop, who famously wrote that he was different than other columnists because he "takes stands," played the NBA's version of Norm Clarke in his first column on ASW. Can we agree that he should have done more with that column than namedrop and shill for Nike?

Seeing how you ignored Whitlock comparing himself to Rosa Parks in his piece but are holding Scoop to his Wiley comment, I'll say your priorities are unorganized.

And Whitlock is no Rosa Parks. But the gross error of writing gets bypassed because of your personal dislike for a writer that I even take little liking too.

    You guys are jokes.

Why such hostility? No one has done anything to you, yet you come in as a new member with your guns blazing.

Let me get this straight: Only blacks can criticize blacks, except not even then?

You know what, Big Chee? You're a fraud and a hypocrite. You came here from a website that celebrates violence and mysogyny and illiteracy, and you go there by choice. You want to submerge yourself in that muck, enjoy, but you have zero credibility when you whine about quarantines and ignorance and solutions.

Wait, Whitlock compared himself to Rosa Parks? Oh, hey, look at that, you told us three times. Thanks. And every time you finish a post with "You guys are (insult)," you look like more and more of a fool. Take a hike.

I know this is wayyy of the path that this thread has taken, but I definitely am getting that feeling more and more. I think he actually even wrote about some athlete walking out on top (might have been Tiki) and said don't be surprised when I walk away next March (I think)... he was being a little tongue in cheek, so everyone can save the bashing over him comparing himself to Barber.

It also seems that he's been allowed to take shots at announcers far more often recently, something that he never seemed to be able to do in the past. I'm guessing he probably said he's on the way out so he's going to push the envelope.

My biggest problem with Scoop (and there are many) is that he is given this forum and he's decided to be the stereotypical "black writer" or as Whitlock may say he's a bojangler. I have no problem with him tackling race issues. It's just the fact that he tries to make every column about race loses major credibility. It's like the boy who cried wolf. At some point you become immune to it, so when/if he ever writes a good piece on the issue it'll be lost because he goes to that well so often.

  10. Yeah, what do you think this is the Source Awards? ;D

Just kidding. I have no dog in this fight.

Added: I'm going on vacation. Y'all have fun with this thread.

Don't make a mockery of the Source Awards, Charlie Brown
Don't point out the obvious when it comes to race, Charlie Brown
Wait so Simmons is ripping Scoop's rip job of Whitlock, who had ripped Scoop and Scoop had retaliated by ripping Whitlock all because Whitlock had written one columns for AOL, and one with a different tone for the Star, but his defense was that the tone was off because of the time difference, but CJR ripped Whitlock for the difference, which caused Scoop to rip Whitlock, which Whitlock ripped Scoop for, and now Simmons is ripping Scoop for the rip job on Whitlock.
Does that more or less sum it up?

  12. Good grief.
