It's the grip-and-grins in newspapers that holds society together, along with prep tennis gamers.

OK, let's restore some sanity here: Prep tennis gamers don't hold society together. They are, however, wholly responsible for kids getting scholarships.

    Carry on.

The 3-day-a-week Huntsville print product may be getting some competition in that market, if rumors swirling turn out to be true. Stay tuned.

Never understood why they gave scholarships for tennis. Most of the kids well enough off to play at the clubs are well enough off to pay their own way.

I remember the reaction of one schools SID on learning they were dropping men's tennis due to Title IX concerns: "Thank God. I can check that nonsense off my to do list."

No Drip, I want specifics. We still have some racist fools in office, but no one I can think of who is turning back the clock to 1963. Enlighten me.

Meanwhile, whispers from other precincts is that al.com will be sending out one (1) columnist each college football Saturday. I'm sure Tide and Tiger fans will be just fine with swapping out custody every weekend.

Intentional or Freudian slip? Fits both ways.

I don't think enough readers care where columnists go.

I think if the Alabama game had a columnist, the Auburn fans would damn sure notice that they wouldnt have one. And vice versa.

I agree with Slappy. We cut back to one columnist on Saturdays last year because of staffing cuts and I heard from readers. So we figured out a way to fix that: This fall, with Rick Cleveland's departure, we won't have a columnist at any games.
