I know. I actually typed that but changed it to show a little mercy for her, deservedly or not.

It's a good thing she's not a design intern; otherwise she'll be getting more W-LWAY than she ever bargained for.

She's only the messenger to me; her shtick is irrelevant. The details of that meeting need to be the focus of the outrage, imo.

That said...when my toddler goes into the workforce (or internship-force) in 18-20 years, I'm buying her one of those antiquated paper journals with the little lock and key. There's your blog, have at it.

I'm yet another old Trib sports writer lucky enough to have worked with Scott Carter. He owned Pasco County preps like no other back in the day.

As for the Trib, I'm reminded of a squeeze bottle gift the Media General bosses once gave all the Tampa employees for one of those stupid employee appreciation days. Media General, tbo.com and Channel 8 adorned side. The morons neglected to include the Trib. That was probably 2003. I hope they saved 200 of them to recycle as this year's gift.

You know, one would think simple sanity would keep someone from expressing anything but sorrow over co-workers' misfortunes in a public forum.
I disagree with SF Express here. You want to fuck with other people's lives, you better be ready when they hit back.

Was she fucking with people's lives, or was she expressing the fact that there are changes to be made, and it's time to make them?

I don't know. Mixed feelings on the whole thing. Pointing out the practicality of some things being done vs. treading lightly among all the people losing jobs certainly isn't pleasant.

I take no joy in the loss of jobs, and the continued fall of print, which is what I grew up with and still love. But amid all the hangwringing, there's also a certain urgency to get on with it and save what's left of the business.

I hope I said that right.

  6. One thing the ex-Tribunites didn't bring up is the fact the intern has been there all of about two weeks. (The Trib usually brings in the interns during the first couple weeks of June.)

And if she realizes, she more than likely has no future at the Trib - since they aren't hiring.

As for Scott, love ya like a brother man. Hang in there. For those who don't know, Scott had to jump in the car this morn and drive to Tampa to turn in his computer and phone. Say what you will.

Jamieresearch, gimme a shout. Long Gone you too.

I would have made them come and get it after the way they treated him.

    Good points, both.

At the current rate, by the end of the day she's going to be coming off as more mature than some of the people attacking her. One in particular on this thread has reached the embarrassing stage.

Unfortunately, I'm sure final paychecks and other important things like that were being held in exchange for said items.

They paying him mileage and expenses for the trip? If so, a stop at Bern's before hitting the office is in order.

    Otherwise, parcel post baby.

It is interesting that it appears that young folks feel free to post their thoughts for the world to see online and likely unaware of how that might play when the world sees it.

I think that is caused by growing up texting and posting on myspace and facebook and such so when you post a blog item that hits a nerve and it's not just your buddies seeing it, the consequences are much different.
