Pretty sure I would have literally shat on the computer and phone before I turned it over to HR after driving 8 hours to return it.

If it's a Mac, I might accidently spill water, a lot of water, on it.

Years ago, they let some people here go. They hired a consulting group first, of course.
The one thing the consultant did that I admired when they were going to cut those in distant locales:
Do NOT use the phone. Drive up there, do it in person. You owe the person at least that much.
This whole thing just plain sucks.

Again, the timing of her hero worship made this blog even more sickening, and the "Amen" and "You go, girl" remarks sealed the deal for me that this intern needed to be shaken by the collar and told just how ridiculous she sounded.

Whatever her intentions were and however good they might have been, she humiliated herself with that one passage alone, thus making the rest of her entry irrelevant. She lost all credibility with those juvenile, ass-kissing comments.

As for Scott, I believe he's still on his way back to his wife and daughter right now hopefully not falling victim to road rage. Apparently, the Trib execs were generous enough to reimburse him for his mileage.

    How mighty nice of them!!!

I'd tell them it'd be in the mail. Au revoir.

But hey, they're paying his mileage.

Yeah, I'd have told them to come get it themselves, and oh by the way, don't worry about the two pit bulls in the driveway. They won't bite. ;)

What do you think the chances of a physical confrontation would have been if the intern was male? If I had lost my job and seen that, I'd say 150%.

What say we post a link to this thread on the comment section of Ms. Bradlee Jr.'s little blog? Or are we getting too far off course the essential point of all this -- that some really good and talented people are out of work.

My suggestion? There's been enough piling on a young intern already -- an intern who continues to answer comments at the bottom of that blog, by the way -- and that if somebody wants badly enough to post a comment there, let them find it themselves.

Someone beat you to the punch.

Oh, and my favorite part in her comments is when someone points out that it is 'laid off' not 'layed off' and she says she always gets that one confused. Wow, you have a bright future in this business Ms. I can't spell.

See, you're exactly right. I spelled everything 100 percent correctly, knew AP style 100 percent and was pretty much perfect in every way when I was intern age. And that perfection is the only way I've made it 31 years in the business.
