If that happens, shiite will SO hit the fan.

I still have pretty good connections there and this is the first I've "heard" of this.

I'm getting furious just contemplating this. I'll check around.

Yeah, the move thing is still being tossed around - but there will be a beat writer rather than college correspondents.
Joe, you mentioned adding a writer earlier. This is not an addition. It is a current staff member of long standing.

So why let Bellone get to 10 years, but not Carter? If I'm Scott, that's what I'm asking.

Wow. Now that sounds suspicious to me. Would anyone put it past the suits to review lengths of service as far as milestones (i.e. close to 10 years, 20 years, etc., if those are the big jumps in severance) to help determine who gets the pink slip and who doesn't?

That makes me sick. Well, sicker than I already was about this.

EDIT: yeah, what mediaguy said. that's just awful.

    Who is Duke Moss?
Duke Maas is the ME there.

Not knowing the details of the offer, but wouldn't the difference, at two weeks severance per nine years, be 18 weeks as opposed to 20 weeks, instead of 10 and 20?

    That was damn impressive.

    Shocking.

Someone will take that, but he/she best get something in writing.

While there is incredible advice in Wendell's post, the thing that made me laugh was him pointing out that the ME plagiarized part of her speech. That's good stuff.

Mick Elliott, who has covered golf for a long time in Tampa and at least two Olympics (because we hung out at both), will cover Florida. He apparently will not move to Gainesville.
And there will apparently be no FSU beat writer.

I'm told Mick's "promotion" was announced to the staff. Haven't talked to Mick in ages. Curious what he thinks of the "promotion."

    Some Independence Day already, eh?

Moddy, have you heard anything more about what Mizzou is reporting on the two writers being asked to move up to Gainesville?
