Anyone happen to see the thread on falling newspaper stocks and where Media General was sitting? Hate to say it serves them right but ... IT SERVES THEM RIGHT.

  2. Because they're never going to give you fair content.

They can get more cooperation. But they'd be silly to publish the truth.

A free and unfettered press is an essential part of a democratic society; it enables the people to make informed choices.

You're not going to see Houston Nutt's cell phone records on his school's official site, that's for sure.

We may be down, but we are absolutely necessary and we need to fight to maintain a free press until our last breath.

  3. Well, I already know how many of today's generation know how to cavalierly blow off people losing their jobs by going to have a few beers at the pool.

I guess she's saying "get out of the new one if you can't lend a hand, for the times they are a-changing."

Only that reference would, no doubt, go over her perfectly-coiffed head.

Speaking of that, has anybody seen a new blog entry from her? It's been over a week I think since she said she was crafting a post on the whole LoudounExtra.com issue in resposne to my question.

What she did was dumb, but directing all of our anger at her lets more worthy targets off the hook.

I see a spot in The Weather Channel's overnight rotation for her some day.

BTW, according to a post by someone on DaSilva's blog, describing oneself as "lovely and talented" is basically a cool, hip, self-deprecating joke that the kids like to use on all their Internet postings. Who knew? And who cares?

I think we've run the course here. If there's anything new at the Tampa Trib, start another thread.

Unfortunately, I do have news. Carter Gaddis was laid off today.
The shit never stops, does it?

The kicker, along the lines of shitty ways to handle things.
Carter was on his way to the office when he got the call.
His second son was born three weeks ago and had an extended stay in the hospital after the birth. So they delayed notifying him about this.

Carter's son is OK, the most important thing. But he's relieved about that, thinking he still has a job - and BOOM.

Crap. I crossed paths with Gaddis a few times. Wish him well.

That may be the most awful layoff story I've heard. These people have no souls.
