Is Sam Zell trying to slum his way to Singleton and Jelenic extremes? Good grief, the one guy who doesn't need to swim in cash to keep going and you would think he'd fail to feed his family without cutting and slashing.

It's getting more and more disgusting by the moment.

It's actually 300+ at Palm Beach, 130 in the newsroom.

I love Hoppes and The Sentinel, but the the number Orlando sends to APSE has been a running joke for about a decade.

Avoid the journalism board on days ending in Y, and you'll be fine.

Remember those who wanted us skeptics to give Zell the benefit of the doubt?

    Where are they now?

  10. Let me get this straight. You're a sellout if you stay in the biz, disregarding all the signs of eminent doom around us, or you're a sellout if you leave the biz and find something that pays better, has better hours, and isn't slashing and burning staff. I'm not being snarky. I'm really not sure which route you're championing here.

But I get that if this is all you've done, and you're over 50, you just keep your fingers crossed.

  11. I'm saying that I feel like a sellout for leaving, because there are a lot of very bright, very respected and very noble people who are doing an honorable thing and staying - like Songbird, for example.

Maybe it is honorable. But I also fear it's delaying the inevitable.

I wish I had the balls, or the grades, to do what you're doing.
