This isn't Neil Reed. People need to get a grip.

I'm convinced ESPN is the only reason why this made news anywhere else and that really bothers me.

  2. The Puerto Rican cop wasn't Neil Reed.
The guy in Philly in 1981 wasn't Neil Reed.
The secretary ducking the vase wasn't Neil Reed.
The kid in the lobby wasn't Neil Reed.
The dozens of incidents we probably don't know about at Army and at Indiana were not Neil Reed.
And then there was Neil Reed, and everybody made the same arguments they're making now, and will make when this guy blows his stack again.
He should be smacked down, hard, because the next kid isn't going to be Neil Reed either.

Geez, Junkie. Give Huggy a break. He was drunk at the time so he has a legit excuse.

Knight is a bully and a thug and the sports world has given him a pass because he's a great coach.
I'd like to see him pull this kind of shit with someone like Ben Wallace.
But that's something we'll never see from a bully.

Not entirely bringing up race, but has Knight fucked with any black kids from questionable backgrounds (who might snap and hit back), or just white kids with a mother AND FATHER. Call it a generalization, but maybe Knight expects more of the Neil Reed's and (Whoever the TT player is) to begin with on a personal level. When he doesn't get it, he flips.

Don't think his flipping makes him a bad person. Again, he has a temper problem. We all do, to some degree.

But, as has been stated many times on this thread, we don't all punch cops, fire vases at secretaries and choke the kids we're supposed to be teaching.

That's the part that makes Knight a bad person. He can't control the temper problem like everyone else does. And he lets it happen again and again and again and ....

Just because it has been stated many times on this thread does not make that opinion correct.

I know the smart thing would be to ignore this whole thread because no matter what any of us say, we're not going to change someone's mind if he doesn't like Bob Knight. But let me just try this as a thought, aimed directly at those who have been castigating Knight for this particular episode and saying the kid didn't ask for this kind of treatment. Well, in a way, the kids do ask for it because they know full well what Knight is, and still want to play for him.

Listen. A number of coaches I've dealt with also run baskeetball camps in the off-season, inviting other coaches to come in and work with camp members. I can tell you of at least three college coaches who provided papers to the kids coming to their camp, asking who they'd want to come in as a "guest coach." They swear to me that -- among others, like Izzo, Boeheim and coach K -- the kids requested Knight. Well, come on, they knew what Knight's rep was and still wanted to work with him.

Bottom line. I don't approve of much of what Knight has done in the past but judging him strictly for this particular episode, he did nothing the kids he coaches didn't want or expect. Therefore, he did nothing wring this time.

And boy do I wish the entire thing would end. I'm sorry for continuing it but I just had to say my piece.

I'm not going to lie: I posted on this because I don't think I've ever seen Casty ever post about a sport other than baseball. :D ;D
