They probably would have included one major league outfielder. With Abreu, the Tigers would have had a glut of OFs. And they might have offered Zach Miner, if the Phillies wanted him.
The offer I heard most was AAA prospect Sanchez, AA prospect Jarr Jurrjens and AA OF Brent Cleven (rated No. 2 position prospect in the Tigers organization).

The main reason they stopped talking tho was that Dmitri Young came off the DL. And he's been hitting well from the left side since he's come back.

But sometimes the best trades are the ones not made.

They refused to give that up for Soriano, too.

And Dombrowski may know what he's doing. They called Clevlen up and started him in CF today against Santana. First inning, he threw out Castillo at the plate, and then doubled in his first ML at bat.

One of the best deals Dombrowski made with the Tigers came with the Phillies, giving up Urbina and someone else for Polanco.

Yes, because free-agent pitching is always such a bargain. Maybe they can land Kevin Appier.

Allow me to be the first to suggest to Mr. Abreu that he get used to the idea of losing to the Angels in the playoffs; Jeter & Co. are already quite familiar with the feeling!

Well the Abreu deal is up to four prospects now -- 20-year-old Single A pitcher and 18-year-old Single A catcher as well.

How much of a prospect can a 20-year-old still in Class A be?

Yes, there are three certainties in life: Death, taxes and, if the Yankees are playing the Angels in the postseason, the Angels are winning.

It'll be interesting to see how Abreu does in N.Y. with the expectations that come with it. I know Philadelphia is a tough city, but very few cities are like the Bronx.

Considering he was signed out of the Dominican and this is his second season, with very good numbers, in both years, I'd say pretty good.

Still playing in Class A at 20 is odd.
