Nope. With however many hundreds of voters there is, you'll always one self-important jackass who wants to make sure no one goes in on the first ballot unanimously.

Greg Maddux will give you an answer sooner. He is about as solid as a lock as I can think of because the steroid whispers have seemed to stay away from him.

That's probably true, but I keep hoping otherwise.

    Exactly.

There was no way any voter could make a logical argument against Rickey Henderson based on merit. None. Unlike Pujols, there wasn't even a whisper of steroids with him. If he wasn't going to get it, nobody will.

There will always be voters who say, "Babe Ruth, Willie Mays and Ted Williams didn't get in on the first ballot. Is this player better than those three guys?"

The vote is whether or not the player belongs. Bringing anything else in is bullshit, but it's going to keep happening.

I was once told that there will never be a unanimous choice because that player would be considered the greatest player of all time. I look at that in another way, Jesus had 12 hand-picked disciples. Eleven went with him. One went against him. If you can't get everyone to follow Jesus....

Babe Ruth was in the inaugural class.

I'm not voting for Jesus on my first ballot because he had powers others don't. Unfair competitive advantage.
