Armchair, that's why I brought it up. It's a real stretch for people to argue against Bonds when Perry got in as one of the biggest cheaters ever.

When did Perry go into the HOF?

It would be interesting to know if there are any current voters who were voters back then and how they voted on Perry.

Ty Cobb also got in during an era when blacks not only weren't allowed in the Hall of Fame, they weren't even allowed in the majors.

Cobb's douchebaggery was considered normal back then.

Douchebags at the highest level used to look at Ty Cobb and say "damn..."

Of coure Bonds was not. However, the remark that sparked my comment was that "anyone who was a great baseball player should be in." Both Jackson and Rose were "great baseball players" and so I wondered if they should get in under that creiterion.

I believe that Jackson was exonerated on charges that he participated in a cab al to fix World Series games.

I do not recall any of the reporting coming out of the Dowd Report and the Giamatti/Vincent kangaroo court proceedings representing any evidence that Rose fixed any games.

Cobb was also forced to retire as a manager after it was alleged he conspired to fix a game.
