Has anyone read the "Know It All" book by AJ Jacobs, the guy who read every volume of the Encyclopedia Brittanica. It looks pretty interesting, I might check it out.

I recently bought one of the CS Lewis compilations that someone mentioned and have read up through the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Lewis' stories are all pretty good, quick reads and offer a nice diversion from the real world. I'll be anxious to see the movies, the guy who did Shrek is in charge of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

I just finished The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time and really enjoyed it. It's very unique, written from the perspective of an autistic boy. Worth checking out and tough to put down.

I can also second the recommendations for "Into Thin Air" the book is fabulous.

I, too, enjoyed The Curious Dog ...

My brother really enjoyed the Know It All and I hope to steal it from him this weekend.

i need to reread the polysyllobic spree... it's a nick horby collection of his book reviews for the believer... great stuff... i should have taken better notes when i read it the first time... basically books he read and what he thought of them (and books he bought and didn't read, which some of us can relate to)

interestingly enough, one of the books he talked about was the curious dog book... hornby has an autistic son and hated that book

Interestingly enough, The Polysyllabic Spree was one of my book selections for the Book of the Month.

    Thanks for playing, hoops!

That book was the one that almost made me break my rule. Jesus that book was bad, and I'm a Clinton guy. But I finished.

Robert Gottlieb, Clinton's editor, actually cut approximately 500 pages from its original length and it still clocked in at 1,000 pages.

Apparently Bill wanted to publish it in two volumes.

I still enjoyed the part about his days as a youth, right through his early years of college. I guess it's about the time he became ... uh ... exclusive that it started to get boring.

Damn the Book Thread. It forced me out to Borders today, where I just bought the Ballad of the Whiskey Robber by Julian Rubinstein. I'll give post a review once I make some progress.

Anybody got a recommendation on which Palahniuk book to read first? He's one who's been on my list to try out for quite a while.
