My "other" name contains a link to the book. May have to move it over.

Have you read Lay of the Land? (I think that was a title). If so, your verdict?
I started to pick it up at the library the other day and worried that it'd be a letdown.

Haven't read it. I actually haven't read anything by Ford; I just thought the Canadian thing was interesting.

I do think I'm giong to give him a shot, though. I guess I'll start with The Sportswriter.

    Longtime lurker on this thread.

I'm reading Oscar Wao now and am really enjoying it. I would recommend it highly, as I would Tree of Smoke, which someone on here had mentioned earlier. And I think any and all Cormac McCarthy books are awesome.

    Sirs, Madames,

Jim Shepard's Like You'd Understand Anyway: Amazing, wildly inventive short stories. Highly recommended. Anyone read anything else by him? Can't get enough.

    YD&OHS, etc

Just finished Michael Lewis' The Blind Side. Very good book, if a bit disjointed-feeling in spots. He pulled his usual analyze-a-sports-trend-like-you'd-analyze-an-underappreciated-financial-market trick, plus wove in a very interesting narrative. Anyone else here read it?
