As a new father, "Home Game" by Micheal Lewis is making me laugh a lot. So did Austin Murphy's book about being a dad.

Reading 'The Year of living Biblically' by Esquire's A.J. Jacobs.
    Very entertaining

I just finished it. He's now working on "The Year of Living Healthy."

Just finished the first volume of a graphic novel called Fables, about fairy tale characters who are living together in New York City. It's pretty interesting.

I also finished The Unlikely Disciple by Kevin Roos, who spent a half-year at Jerry Falwell's Liberty University. That was pretty interesting as well if you're into religious exploration.

Hoping to plow through a few more books before summer ends.

    So far in 2009:

Baseball Between the Numbers by Baseball Prospectus
    Finished off: Lardner on Baseball
    Loose Balls by Terry Pluto
Days of Grace by Arthur Ashe
Only the Ball Was White by Robert Peterson
    Best American Sports Writing 2008
Call The Yankees My Daddy by Cecil Harris

Just started: The Blind Side by Michael Lewis

  8. I loved Days of Grace. It's a book that should be required reading for every athlete in every sport today. Nobody played and lived with as much class as Arthur Ashe.

Finished Chabon's Mysteries of Pittsburgh two weeks ago while on vacation in that area. He's so, so good.

    Currently reading World War Z.

  10. Knocked out Connelly's "Scarecrow" in what was record time for me and a 419-page novel and have moved on to "The Poet." I'm about 100 pages into "Poet," and so far I think "Scarecrow" was more interesting. My third Connelly book is on its way from Amazon - "The Narrows."

Really enjoyed World War Z. Was shocked when I hear it was written by Mel Brooks' son.

Though it took me nine months, enduring college football road trips in the fall and on-and-off reading since, I finally tackled David Maraniss's "Rome 1960." A fascinating book that, while hard to keep track of at times because of the amount of time it took me to read it, really did a good job putting the Olympics in the context of the world at that time. I highly recommend it for anyone who's a fan of meticulously-researched, socio-political sports books.
