The Forever War was really good, I recommend it to anyone and everyone in here. Really captures the war on terror and it should have won the Pulitzer over American Lion.

I don't know if it's available in the states but there's a pretty good BBC audiobooks version of On The Road, read by Matt Dillon.

I picked up Fatsis' book in B&N one day and for some reason, put it down. That oversight needs to be rectified.

I read a review on it that had a great, great line about the NFL, "that they're looking for your replacement the moment you walk in the door..."

I also just finished the Fatsis book. Great read.

I just finished the entertaining (and short) "Harry Truman's Excellent Adventure" by Matthew Algeo. It's about Harry and Bess Truman's road trip from their home in Independence, MO back to DC and to Philly and NYC after he left the White House. The writer followed their route as best as he could, stopping along the way in places they stopped. It was a quick read (only 230 pages) and I really enjoyed it.

    If I had the choice:

    On The Road -- read.

    Ball Four -- listen.

Started the Fatsis book last night. Should have started it much sooner.

MUNSON by Marty Appel, great biography, big recommendation for this one. Though did not explore Reggie Jackson or Billy Martin relationships enough which I felt were the most dynamic.

Anyone have any recommendations on reading about the Kennedies, particularly the years around and between the two assassinations?

I'm looking at Brothers, by Salon founder David Talbot, but I'm not sure about it.

As always, I will pimp Mutual Contempt.

I didn't like Brothers at all, sad to say. I liked Thurston Clarke's The Last Campaign, about RFK's 1968 race. A couple of months ago I read a good JFK book, but I'm utterly blanking on it right now.

That's disappointing. I was really looking forward to Brothers. Mutual Contempt looks awesome, and I've always wanted to read The Last Campaign.

    Thanks.
