Just a note -- I'm about 100 or so pages into Teddy Kennedy's autobiography and liking it. It's not stilted at all and is offering some good glimpses into his life.

Obviously, if you despise him, you'll hate it, but it's turning out to be a good read for fans.

The Big Bam: The Life and Times of Babe Ruth

Solid biography on the Babe, wanted to read more about him considering he may have been one of the most interesting athletes in American history.

. . . have always liked Montville, and if you have yet to read a major Ruth bio, this
    is a fine choice, but . . .

. . . for those looking for something somewhat more esoteric by the same author, grab The Mysterious Montague . . . not for everyone, but check out a brief
outline online, and if it sounds as if it might tickle your fancy, go for it, and you won't be sorry.

Fun and breezy. Reads like an ethnography.

Fiasco was a great book, but I had a hard time reading because I would look at something and just get upset at the farce. I put it down two or three times, and last month I just decided I wasn't going to read another book until I finished it.

The chapter on Terry Schiavo will piss you off, AMac.

    Big time.

I'm intrigued. I was giggling at Pierce's view on Albom's work -- as much as I enjoyed The Five People (sorry, SportsJournalists.com, but it's true).

started "the savage detectives" by roberto bolano.

i enjoyed "by night in chile," but so far this book is pretty bad. only 15 pages in and i'm debating whether tackling the last 550 pages is worth the effort.

jgmacg has said that he sees no fault with someone like bolano taking 100 pages just to get his footing. i just dont know if i have that kind of patience with this protagonist, garcia madero.
