Yeah, that's on my list too. I just got a copy of Dr. Z's Thinking Man's Guide to Pro Football in the mail. It's the first revised one from the 70s, the updated one was too expensive....

  2. Just finished Superstud by Paul Feig.  One of the funniest books I've read in some time.

My pop just sent me a copy of 'The Power Broker : Robert Moses and the Fall of New York' by Robert A. Caro.
I've been wanting to read it for a long time but had never gotten around to buying it for myself.

Buck, I think you'll find "Power Broker" to be an astonishing book. Unless your an Evelyn Wood alum it'll take you a while to get through at over 1,100 words, but Caro humbles you with what he's done here. It really is the best biography I've ever read and there isn't a close second.

Every now and then - about as often as we elect a president - we throw a thread out there with some actual value.

    Sirs, Madames,

Just 200 pages into Sons of Mississippi by Paul Hendickson--uneven, at times too "creative" but never dull history of a single moment, J Meredith's arrival on Ole Miss campus and the state "lawmen" who were there to block it.

    YHS, etc

I just finished 'The Last Emperor' by Edward Behr, and I'm moving the Moses biography up in the rotation and starting it tonight.
Like I said, I've been wanting to read it for some time now.

King Kauffman did an interview with Barra on Salon a week or so ago...the book sounds really interesting. I didn't know Bear Bryant almost became coach of the Dolphins in the late 1960s...he was so disgusted with George Wallace and Alabama being all-white that he damn near jumped to the NFL.
