Will have to check that out -- big fan of Frank's writing. And we should re-read "What's the Matter With Kansas" during the GOP primary season. He basically predicted the tea party's emergence in that book.

One final note ... I understand "The Baffler," Frank's old DIY literary magazine from the late 1990s-early 2000s, is making a comeback. Not sure if he's involved with it, though.

Coco, the funny thing is Frank is spot-on with his analysis in this book of how the Republicans managed to take anger over the financial collapse and turn it from the corporations and Wall Street, where it belonged, to government, specifically the Obama administration and Democrats, along with the "ne'er do wells" who scooted out over their underwater homes without paying a dime and those other "ne'er do wells" who wanted extensions on their unemployment benefits. It's really great. Also, it said on the book cover that he is involved with the Baffler, as a web site, I believe. I'm at work so I don't have the book with me. I'll check again when I get home and post when I find out.

I recently finished the new Cosell bio which was really solid. It made me want to read Cosell's "I Never Played the Game" which I found at a Half Price Books and it was a surprisingly entertaining read.

Looked into it ... the new Baffler issue (No. 19) comes out in March, and yeah, Frank's involved. I see Matt Taibbi was among the writers in No. 18, which came out last year (I'll have to track it down).

It's almost 40 years old (came out in 1973) and I haven't read it in many years, but Cosell by Cosell was damn good too, especially the stuff on Ali and the Munich Olympics.

My 11-year-old daughter insists The Hunger Games is the greatest book ever. With your endorsement, KY, I may have to read it.

  9. The Hunger Games is an absolutely fabulous read. Took it down over Christmas in about four days. One of those you just can't justify doing anything else in front of. My wife was slow to get to it, but she just ripped through it, too, and is now onto the second book.

Just started the new Stephen King book about Kennedy. I love it so far. I'm not a huge King fan, but this thing just flies. Already 80-90 pages in, and it feels like I've read nothing at all. Great recommendation by the gallery here.

I read the book in two days. Now, unless one of my friends lend me their copy, I've got a month and a half wait ahead of me until I can check the second one out from my local library.

Thanks to a $20 gift certificate from a friend, I just bought The Hunger Games box set on barnesandnoble.com for $14.
