Alan Furst has a new pre-WW2 espionage novel out with lots of Euro atmosphere. I liked it as usual, but the stories seem to be getting wispier and wispier.

Now on to tackle my first-ever Steven King book -- the JFK time-travel epic.

I really enjoy Jo Nesbo's work. He's spectacular. I fly through his books compared to Stieg. Stieg was a bit obsessed with coffee and sandwiches, while Nesbo doesn't focus on as much mundane day-to-day stuff in his books.

We were in Europe in May and I picked up Nesbo's most recent novel, "Phantom." Won't be published in U.S. until October.

I haven't read "Headhunters." Need to get that one. Saw a trailer for the movie and am eager to catch the flick.

"Global Weirdness: Severe Storms, Deadly Heat Waves, Relentless Drought, Rising Seas, and the Weather of the Future"

A really good primer on climate change and written for the layperson. A quick read but it's quite good.

It was OK. Some funny stuff in there to be sure but I was more than ready for it to end. I have the e-version of his other book, haven't read it yet. I did find his riffs on Ty Pennington to be quite funny.

I'm reading "The Impeachment of Abraham Lincoln," by Stephen L. Carter. Just a great book of historical fiction. If you're a Civil War buff, I'd highly recommend. Or if you're just a legal eagle. It's really good.

Flying through "Gone Girl," and have about 60 pages left. LOVE it. Plot twists, suspense and psycho person all the way through.

Haven't tried that one yet, since I haven't read the book it's playing off of -- it's a prequel to someone else's novel, right?

I think Winslow actually called it a "supplement" or some such to Trevanian's Shibumi, but yeah, it's actually a prequel in time...

Almost halfway through. It's brilliant. Usually these thrillers are all about plot, and outlandish plot at that. This is a character study of the utmost. I put it on par with my favorite writer, Richard Russo.

Ripped through the Jack McCallum's Dream Team book, interesting insight. Larry Bird is/was hilarious.
