Me, too. Even if I didn't always engage in the conversations, I usually tried to pick up the books and read them.

The Kindred discussion is a good start on the New Edition SportsJournalists.com Book Club and 21 gets credit for finding the book, etc.

If there's enough interest, we'll officially start this thing and I'll "assign" the next selector.

If we start a New Edition SportsJournalists.com Book Club, can I be Bobby Brown? That dude's funny.

Sure, but you'll have to sleep with The Artist Formerly Known As Whitney Houston.

I wanna be Maurice Starr, probably the only person who actually made money off NE and NKOTB.

Just finished A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers at the suggestion of those on this thread. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't get the 'characters' out of my head. Thanks for the heads up!

The greatest baseball book ever written. Heck, just one of the finest books you'll find in late 20th centuray American literature:

Indeed, Moddy, I enjoyed the book club discussions. Great of Kindred to re-stoke the flames, though. About to launch into his Ali-Cosell book.

I'm on the road, as Bubbler explained to the SJ world on another thread. That book is making the trip.

Just finished Olney's book (some of us have to wait for paperback) and thoroughly enjoyed.
He's a crisp writer and it was full of insight.

Next up is Easter, 1916 by Tim Pat Coogan. It's my penance for failing to get through The Troubles by the same author.

And I'm up for the book club.

I bought it, gave it to my dad for his birthday, and will steal it as soon as he finishes it.
It's a time honored tradition we have.
