Braves ditching The Ted for suburbs

God, fuck this new stadium. I haven't talked to a single person that is excited about this. If you live in the city, you hate having to drive OTP to go to a home game. If you live in Cobb County or close to the new stadium, you are dreading the ridiculous traffic crunch that is going to come with a 7:10 first pitch on a weeknight. Want to alienate fans that live in the city while pissing off anyone who has to make a commute north of the city? Pull some shit like this. And then put out a piss-poor excuse for a team to boot? Sorry I didn't purchases season tickets for 2017. I decided to slice up, burn and bury my credit card instead.

    Sorry. Just had to vent.

I live 45 minutes from the Ted and I've been to two games the past three years. 1.) Much better experience with my TV now, and if the game sucks I can - and often do - change the channel. 2.) It's a royal pain in the ass to get there. The new stadium, which is 12 miles further away and will take me twice as long to get to, will only make both of these issues more extreme.

Alienating the people who live in the city was precisely the point.

I think it's a distinct possibility the Braves will have to move their start times to 7:30 because of the traffic gridlock.

And I won't be surprised if the first 7:10 weeknight game ends up resembling Snowmageddon, without the white stuff.

Maybe nobody will go because it's too crowded.

Maybe the stadium will be a stop on the Springfield Monorail.

Until they build some kind of transportation/metro up toward the new stadium, it will remain a cluster fuck. But Cobb County will never allow that to happen, so they are just going to have to deal with their streets being clogged before and after games.

As I've said before, fuck this new stadium.

I posted this on the MLB Season thread, but it's more appropriate here, for obvious reasons. I really hope Atlanta's insane stadium quest is an isolated case.
Let's say 1992 (Camden Yards) began a relative -- we are talking about fleecing taxpayers and funding billionaires here -- Age of Reason for MLB parks. Multi-purpose stadiums located outside of the city center? Gone. Hello, architectually-sound baseball-only parks within the city limits. Sounds like grounds for long-term committments. Right? Right??
That the a) Braves are choosing a suburban home alongside some of the worst traffic imaginable, b) Diamondbacks think Chase Field (1998) as it stands is past its prime and c) Rangers are soon leaving a perfectly fine stadium built in 1994 means, Christ, some owners/cities really are fucking dumb.
