Not quite what I meant. It seemed like they were setting something up there where he's a bit higher up in the gang than just a street-level drug dealer. Or maybe they were just going for a loss of innocence thing, or trying to mirror the surprise of Combo's death with Jesse.
And like SP, I didn't make the connection between Tomas and Combo until his mother spelled it out. I figured he'd been hit by a stray bullet or something.

Did anyone else pick up on the imagery of the shot where Skyler puts the rice in the pot? It seemed like a callback to Walt putting his drug phone in the toilet tank. And then she's diving headlong into Walt's world. Nice, subtle set-up there.

She didn't say he killed Combo specifically, but Jesse had no trouble putting 2 and 2 together.

Well, Combo's murder showed up on the "previously on Breaking Bad" intro. So they were setting it up. I'm excited for next week, because I want to know if Jesse will take care of this gang himself and get killed, or if he will involve Walt and Gus.

    Well, that was frickin' unbelievable.

    OK, aside from that:

    Was that Margot Kidder?

OK, having watched it again, I'm confused....

I thought the kid in the house with her and Jesse when she got the call was her kid, not the kid who did the killing and now is dead himself.

I hate that this isn't clear to me; she's clearly acting like a distraught mother. Can somebody explain it to me?

She has two kids. The gang member who died, and another younger one. I assumed the one in the doorway was the younger one.

    Other thoughts...
    1) Holy. Fucking. Shit.
Walt had another "Phoenix" moment there. No hesitation, and he almost looked like he enjoyed it. Once again, the way this show tells the story through its actors' mannerisms astounds me. When Jesse recoiled, I don't think there was one viewer who didn't feel the same way. And if you watch the way Walt's movements progress from the time he gets out of the car, he once again goes from the nervous everyman to the stone cold Heisenberg in a matter of seconds. Just awesome.

    2) A big thanks to Marie for teaching us to never underestimate the power of a handjob.

    3) The blowjob montage at the beginning was freaking terrific.

Actually, Tomas, the gang member who died, was her brother.

  12. Good God, what a show. It might just be me being a nerd for this show, but I absolutely love the transformation that takes place when Walt "becomes" Heisenberg. I thought for sure tonight was the end of Jesse.

    Wow.
