I think that's just a coincidence. Vince Gilligan has said since the show started that Walter White changes from Mr. Chips into Scarface. After what Walt did in the episode, I'd say the guy has just about done it.

I agree with the comment about the Scarface scene takeaway was "everybody dies in this movie." Some epic foreshadowing.

Zippy chance it was a coincidence.

The only question is when Walt will tell someone "say hello to my little friend" he had in the truck of the car in the season's opening scene.

I'm excited to see how the brewing Mike/Walt confrontation plays out because of this. Jesse was willing enough to be Walt's pawn when it was versus guys like Tuco or Gus, but Mike is someone he likes and respects, and has treated him better overall than Mr. White. Really curious to see which way Jesse goes this season.

The first four seasons, Walt's evil turns were a lot more subtle. You weren't really sure if he was Walt or Heisenberg. This season, it's way more obvious that he's completely and utterly an evil asshole. Anytime he turns back into Walt, it's for some nefarious purpose. Even when he's doing a "Walt thing" like moving his stuff back in or giving Jesse advice, no matter how sincere and kind he seems, you can tell there's an ulterior motive there.
Skyler has figured that out. Mike, too. Now I think, in that final scene, Jesse might have started to see it. Whether that "fly too close to the sun" speech was directed toward Mike or Jesse is uncertain, but it certainly seemed to give Jesse the creeps. Outstanding sequence, all of it.

Also, I loved how they showed Jesse's competence in this episode. He immediately saw the problem with setting up shop in the box factory, then figured out how to get the equipment set up in the house, all without any prompting from Walt. I think he also saw the direction the conversation was heading when Mike and Walt fought over the money and realized he needed to step in.
Subtle things, but it shows why Walt is manipulating Jesse the way he is. Jesse is a potential threat to his dominance, the same way Gale was.

I'm starting to think that might have been setting up, if not the final scene of the series, then at least the final episode. I can envision Mike and Jesse seeing how big a threat Walt is, then teaming up to destroy him before he kills them. Walt disappears (and his family either is killed or goes to the other side of the country), then comes back and tries to bring hell down on them with a direct assault.

In Skylar's defense, I've wanted to tell Marie the same thing for a long time. I think listening to her voice every day is what really motivated Hank to get back to the office and out of the house.

Terrific episode. Just a great scene with, "Everyone dies in this movie, right?"
Not real sure who the Victor speech was aimed at, Jessie or Mike. And Walt getting a measure of revenge on Skylar over her sleeping with Ted....remember the IFT episode when she told Walt, "I.F.T" as they went out to have dinner with Walt Jr. and his friend? Just great storytelling all around

A thought/theory on how the endgame of the series might play out.
The first time we ever saw Mike, IIRC, was in the aftermath of Jane's death. Anyone else think maybe he knows something about that from cleaning up the crime scene that he's been holding on to? Some evidence or observation that Walt was there, like the broken door from where he busted into the house?
We haven't seen any indication that Mike has an ace up his sleeve, so it'd be a big cheat for Gilligan and Co. to pull out at this stage, but it's nothing a well-done teaser scene can't fix.
So we get Mike with this knowledge, and he uses it at the right time to make Jesse see the light about Walt, turning them against each other. Bada-bing, bada-boom, a few months later Walt's buying a machine gun and getting ready to truly fulfill his destiny as Scarface.

Denny's should get RJ Mitte to do promos after the show wraps.

I don't think the Jane thing will ever come out. Would be an awesome moment if it did, but the only way I can see it happening is if Walt confessed, and I think he's too far gone to do that now.

The Brock poisoning is what I think will shatter Walt's relationship with Jesse. Saul, who is increasingly creeped out by Walt, knows and I suspect they aren't explaining quite how Walt did it so it can be a surprise in a later episode (and perhaps because they don't know how he managed it yet, heh).

I like where you're head is at J-School Blue. Saul is going to spill the beans.

I think the closest we've got and will get to the Jane explanation is "Fly," the bottle episode with Walt and Jesse in the lab. Walt was all messed up on a downer and nearly opened up to Jesse about it. Intense, man.
