I love the fact that Walter couldn't accept taking anything less than all of the chemical, even at the risk of getting caught.

This episode was a little over the top in terms of Walt knowing that he would have the opportunity and time to bug Hank's office and the fact that they knew exactly where the train would stop. But man was it well executed.

Walt literally became the Jesse James that Mike had mentioned.

I do find Skylar's agreeing to stay but without the kids a little hard to buy within the framework of the show.

So why the reference to Heat? The killing of the boy by the new guy is a little similar to the heist at the start of that movie.

Just wondering, but don't you think there would be cameras in a DEA agent's office? Especially a higher-ranking one?

Also, I don't think Walt had gloves on when he messed with the computer and placed the bug, so his prints would be all over them.

I had completely forgotten about the kid. Dr. J and I figured the kid was going to find a body four or five episodes into the future or something like that and we'd flash back to this opening.

We just sat there and waited for something to go terribly wrong. Great episode, and great to see Landry getting work.

So, after crushing three season's worth of Sons of Anarchy on Netflix, I decided to play catch-up with Breaking Bad. Had breezed through the first season but hit a wall in Season 2 because I HATE everyone in Walt's family except for Hank.

Anyway, in the past two weeks I've cruised through the rest of Season 2, all of Season 3, all of Season 4 and, now, I'm caught up.

Gonna put this out there now: With the amount of times they've shown Skylar smoking, I can just about guarantee she's going to smoke that poisoned cigarette and that'll be the end of her before long.

And is it bad that they killed an innocent kid and I barely flinched? I can't think of anything this show could do that would shock me.

Glad to be on board for the rest of the ride, though. Seems like the next few weeks are going to be insane.

  7. I think the Skyler poisoned cigarette theory has become popular but I don't think that's how it goes down.

First, Walt took the Ricin out of the cigarette when he stored it in the electrical outlet. But also, remember that the original cigarette was just a placeholder for the poison, it was never meant to be smoked in its cigarette form. I'm not even sure that's a possible delivery method for it.

Not saying it won't happen that way but just a couple things to keep in mind on that.

Anyone else listen to the pocasts that Gilligan and the staff do? A little rambling and a little more technical than I can always follow, but a fun post-mortem to each episode.

Yeah. The cigarette was just camouflage so Jesse could cart the Ricin around with him until he had an opportunity to open it and put it in Gus's coffee (or soup, or what-have-you). Iirc it was inside a glass vial then (and still is) so there's no way it could be accidentally ingested. Walt could certainly poison Skyler with it but he'd have to use a different method than getting her to smoke it (I don't think the show would be as obvious as having him off her with it anyway).

ETA: Oh, Mike. Do not hear him out.

There's a certain genius in a series that can make you a) Really, really, really want to see the protagonist he shot in the head and b) keep you watching, in spite of how much you want to see him get shot in the head.

"I am in the Empire business". Fuck.

  11. I can appreciate that Walt is a very intelligent man but Gilligan is really pushing the limits on the suspension of disbelief in the things he is pulling off. He busted out of his binds in about 45 seconds. That's just absurd.

Great episode and it was inevitable that there would be a showdown with Mike here at the end of this part of the season but I'm struggling to get beyond some of the things that Walt now gets away with.

The scene with Walt whistling happily and Jesse feeling awful about himself was downright haunting.

"Meanwhile, Shrader's hard-on for you just reached Uncle Miltie proportions."

Also, good insight into why Walt won't quit. He gave up a fortune when he sold out his stake in Gray Matter.
