Loved the almost throwaway line in that monologue, "... as of last Friday. I check it every week."
Like you said, good insight. Actually, check that. GREAT insight, from that scene and the dinner scene. Not only is the meth business all he has left, it shows just how driven this guy is. He is not going to be dicked over or let an opportunity slip away again, no matter what.
Also, the last line of the dinner scene, "And you want to take it away from me" was damned chilling. Walt is alternating between manipulating Jesse and openly threatening him at this point, just like he is with Skyler.

"And did he tell you about my affair?"

Too much talking going on, all over.

This show just keeps getting better! And Walter keeps sinking lower and lower by the minute. You can almost see his eyes getting darker and deeper. And I just can't get enough of Mike. Like I said, loved him in Wiseguy and even more in Breaking Bad. You just can't teach that delivery ... "If you bring another gun to one of our jobs without telling me, I will shove it up your ass ... sideways." Damn! ;D ;D ;D

While it was made clear several times that the sale of the methylamine would net $15 million -- when Mike was negotiating price with the Arizona-based buyer, it sounded as it they were talking about 600 something thousand dollars for the 2/3 share.

    What did I misunderstand?

Mike and Jesse were angling for $15,000 or so per gallon and, with their 2/3rd share of the meth, they had 666 gallons to sell which comes out to about $10 million.

If they sold ALL of the methylamine, they would be selling 1,000 gallons, at $15,000 per, for a total profit of $15 million.

All this being said, it doesn't make much sense to me that Walt wouldn't take this offer. I get that he wants to be the king but he could easily take the $5 million and bail and do whatever the hell he wants for the rest of his life.

I understand that he doesn't want to repeat what happened with his other company but, deep down, he can't possibly see his involvement in this business ending in any other way but his death right?

So what was the $690K talk all about?

Just re-watched the scene. The only thing beginning with 600 they discuss is the 666 gallons of methlamine that Mike and Jesse are trying to sell. Otherwise, it's just $15,000 a gallon for 666, then 1,000 gallons.

Now later, Jesse and Walt are talking and Jesse mentioned $770K, which was the original figure Walt hoped to make selling meth for his family's nest egg after he died.

Gilligan thought last year was the last year for BB, wrote the season finale as a season finale, didn't know where the show was going from there ... and it shows.

Nothing is happening on this show. I've heard Skyler and Walt talk about someone knocking on the door in three different episodes now. Two for sure. The most exciting thing that has happened so far is (spoiler alert) some little kid getting shot. Walt delivers scowls and menacing lines. We get it, they've descended into madness. Now what? Deliver on it. The capers aren't all that funny. It's kind of turned into The Walking Dead on the farm.

  9. I think they are about to get into some real stuff. I certainly don't agree with the assertion that nothing is happening on the show. While it's not as exciting, that's to be expected because Walt's current enemies aren't as obvious as his old ones. Obviously it was going to take some time to establish some new conflicts because Walt offed his biggest ones last year.

Now, though, it's pretty clear that what the order of things is going to become. Walt vs. Mike, Walt vs. Skyler, Walt vs. Hank and ultimately Walt vs. Jesse. That all still has to come to fruition and it should make for some really great TV. I think they'll start delivering next week and it will carry thorugh to the very end of the show because that's a lot of ground to cover.

All of that said, I do agree that the capers and the ridiculous great escapes have gotten old and make it hard to suspend disbelief over and over.

The DEA is obviously tailing Mike, yet they keep showing him listening to the conversations in the DEA office on his laptop, sitting in his car, or at home. Is it so far-fetched to think the DEA would have bugged his house and car, so they're listening to him listening to them? That has to come up at some point.

Jesse was great in that scene. "Heard you're running the car wash like a machine. A well-oiled machine."
Yeah, the line about the affair was great and then Jesse just pounding water was classic.

    SPOILER

There's just no way Mike doesn't put a bullet into Walt's head after A: Walt gives them so much static about the buyout and B: trying to actually steal the methylamine. And Jesus, Mike, use a pair of handcuffs next time!
