I thought that Mike was going to shoot Walter after he got the bag from him. Why wouldn't he? Mike having Walt bringing the bag didn't bother me as much as the one handed tying up the week before. I also thought that he wouldn't have his money stashed in the same place as the other 9. Some shortcuts obviously must taken for purposes of plot -- just like there is no way that Gus would have so much direct contact with Walt -- but these were some tough leaps of logic to swallow

Also, if Saul were under watch by the DEA, why were Walt and Jesse meeting with him in Saul's offices?

I thought there were some great scenes this week -- my favorites were in the car wash and the Walt-Jesse scene -- but the logic leaps within the context of the show the past couple of weeks has brought it down a few notches for me.

Someone also mentioned the pictures that Hank was looking at. I definitely noticed him staring pretty hard at one, but I can't remember which one. He spotted something.

I didn't think sex at that moment but I did feel like they were going to become allies against Walt.

It looked like it showed Lydia from behind in one of the pictures.

Seeing Lydia from behind wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

I thought it was from the scene in the diner from the first episode.

  7. If indeed it's the scene from the diner in episode one of this season then it is Lydia. That's what I thought when they showed it anyway.

  8. I think the use of time has been bad and it's made things feel rushed and there have been some logic leaps that are hard to swallow, I agree.

But I don't think Mike not shooting Walt there was one of them. They went to the trouble to show us that Mike was a carpenter without his toolbox. He got rid of all his guns and the only one he had was supposed to be in the bag that Walt brought him. Obviously, that was the gun that killed him.

My bigger problem was what we discussed earlier in that this season went to great pains to take away everything we knew about Mike being one of the most relentlessly competent people we've ever seen on TV. I hate how they wiped that away seemingly randomly just so Walt could kill him and we wouldn't question it as much. At least with Gus, who they also showed as very calculating and intelligent, Walt got him in one moment of vulnerability instead of them suddenly making him sloppy when the heat was turned up the most.

Sepinwall interviews Banks. At least when it comes to Lydia, he didn't like the decision to have Mike not shoot her.

I guess my feeling is that if Mike were reduced to using his backup car, there might be some weapon stashed there. I agree that Mike was dumbed down way too much this season.

The Gus/Tio thing I liked, because it added a nuance to an already great villian.

Walt took a gun out of Mike's hand right before he keeled over. So the gun in the bag wasn't his only one, he just made the mistake of letting Walt get his hands on it.
