Completely lazy way for Hank to figure it out but I do love the fact that as Walt is outside enjoying a nice, peaceful moment of clarity--where everything seems right--his entire life is coming crashing down 30 feet away.

I wonder what, if anything, Hank can really do here. Ultimately, he's not going to stick it to Walt without going after Walt's finances and once he does that, he's going to implicate himself as a beneficiary to Walt's success. That's got to be a major sticking point, right? That Walter paid for Hank's rehabilitation?

I'll also be curious to see what, if anything, this means for Jesse. In theory, he should be out. For good. Forever. But we all know he's too good a character and way too good an actor for him to go out like that.

My bet is the last of this season turns into a hunt of Hank vs. Walt and ends with Walt going out Scarface style because he has no other choice.

Well we know he'll still be free for his next birthday.

That pool conversation reminded me of the last few minutes of the Sopranos. Something was going to happen ... wasn't it?

I thought for sure Walt Jr. was going to get shot in retaliation for the prison murders and that that would spark the end of Walt's world as Hank started putting the pieces together.

Alas, it was not meant to be.

Still, at least we'll get a couple more scenes with him eating breakfast next summer.

I wanted more Jesse. And more reaction to Mike's death, preferably from Jesse. And, yeah, the two musical montages within 10 minutes were a bit much (though I thought both sequences were very well-done).

Those last five minutes were killer, though. Looking forward to Walt vs. Hank. I think Hank will do the right thing and try to bring Walt in, even though it'll absolutely shred his life.

  5. Are you sure Jesse knows Mike is dead? I'm pretty sure when he said that Saul told him what he did, he was talking about the guys in jail. I'm pretty sure Jesse thinks Mike just left town at this point.

At some point, Jesse and Walt will come to a head next season as well because Jesse is going to find out about some/all of what Walt has done to him and the people close to him over the years.

    That's a good point. He likely doesn't.

I got the definite impression Jesse thought Walt had come to his house to kill him, but that could easily be a reaction to the jail murders and the clear tying up of loose ends that was going on.

Loved the big pile of money in the storage rental unit. Really twistedly funny to me.

Couple of thoughts: I'm inclined to believe Walt is lying to Skyler. Among other things, he's a serial manipulator, and Jesse appears to be out of the picture in that regard.

Also, I can't see a way Hank makes it out alive. I think he becomes the ricin victim.

As someone coming late to the show and hasn't seen all the previous episodes, can someone explain quickly the significance of the inscription in the Leaves of Grass book?

Walt beat the hell out of that dispenser back when he was told the cancer was in remission.

The dented paper towel dispenser hasn't been replaced since he beat the hell out of it following an unexpectedly good diagnosis in the aforementioned "4 Days Out."

Loved the finale. Thought Hank taking a dump was more powerful than Gus getting his face blown off. That sounds weird. Talk about an epic showdown on tap for the final eight episodes.

Gale strikes from the grave, bitch.

I'd be interested to know how much time passed in this particular episode. It seemed to be at least a few weeks or months (the montage with all the money accumulating seemed to indicate that).

It was a message from Gale Bedeker (the murdered meth cook/chemist) to Walter White ("the other W.W."). It tied in to the similar note that Hank found in Gale's lab notes to "W.W." last season where Walter pointed out it was a quote from Walt Whitman in Leaves of Grass, which deterred Hank from thinking too closely about Walt-as-Heisenberg. There's no way Hank won't put two and two together now.
