Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by Batman, Jun 4, 2012.

  1. Some pretty absurd theories on here.

She gave them to Marie and Hank because she wanted to keep them safe. That's more important to her than keeping the family together, which is why the idea that Skyler would kill Walt Jr. is completely absurd.

Slattery is one note. A charming one-note, but there is no greater depth from him than from the first episode of the series. Stan/Peggy scenes are well done, but he's at best a tertiary role.

As to the series, there needs to be some forward movement on Jesse, but I don't see what it could be. Maybe, Lydia and her operation hold him hostage (although kidnapping some of the White family would be more effective)?

I'm wondering how they get out of the garage next Sunday -- my thought was that Skylar or Walt Jr. calls to say that something has happened at their house.

Pretty sure he turned 51 in season 5.1. There was an episode titled "Fifty-One."

You're right. He definitely turned 52 in the Denny's scene, though.

As for the end game, one theory posited by Grantland's Andy Greenwald was that the Czechs/Lydia find out Jesse can cook meth almost as well as Walter and kidnap him and force him to do so. That's why Walter comes back with the machine gun at the end.

The Wire is still my favorite show of all time, but BB is probably No. 2, ahead of Sopranos and Mad Men. The Wire to me is better just because of its ability to develop a ton of characters with depth without dragging out the narrative. Kind of the best of both worlds.

This seemed appropriate for this thread: http://www.esquire.com/blogs/culture/breaking-bad-vs-mad-men?src=spr_FBPAGE&spr_id=1456_19593391

Breaking Bad is so splashy. I get the visceral appeal, but Mad Men is smarter.

  9. Without having seen Mad Men, I still put The Wire clearly above everything else I've ever watched on television.

If you haven't watched Sunday's episode yet, don't click this link.

The Star Trek script has been animated.

Thinking about it, I'd put Sunday's episode fifth on the list of favorite episodes. The closing sequence to Crawlspace will always be my favorite, no matter what happens in the next seven episodes. It felt like a TV show giving you a panic attack.

    1. Crawl Space
    2. Full Measure
    3. Face Off
    4. Half Measures
    5. Blood Money
