...in which he also pointed out the "artsy fartsy reason" -- that it's a metaphor for Walt knowing he was out of time.

That's so lame. I figured it was the same watch Jesse gave him, and he removed it because he was going to kill Jesse (while still assuming he was a partner making money off his name).

Ditto. That interpretation, frankly, makes more sense. Walt resented Jessie profiting from his genius and wanted to kill him. Why have something on your wrist that would cause some sympathy or good feelings toward the guy?

It'd make for an interesting episode of "Law & Order: ABQ".
I think the idea/hope was, they have Walt in custody (or at least confirmed dead) and have no further reason to pursue the worst charges against Skyler. They could certainly nail her for money laundering and aiding and abetting, maybe even accomplice to murder, but with the kingpin dead, what's the point? The reason they were pushing on her to begin with was to find Walt.
So, she gives them the bodies. Not to get off scot free, but perhaps for a reduced charge. Maybe some house arrest or probation, or a couple of years in prison rather than 25 to life. She plays the victim well, has the tape of Walt's call and can paint herself as an unwitting pawn in the whole affair. Go to a jury and she might talk herself into an acquittal.
Of course, the prosecutors could also argue she had the lottery ticket the whole time and was in cahoots with Walt during his exile, and throw the book at her as a proxy for Walt.

So it bothers people that a show that had a mercury fulminate explosive, an IED placed under a severed head mounted on a live tortoise, a wheelchair nursing home bomb, a super-magnet and a methylamine train heist, had a remote-controlled machine gun?

Clearly some people didn't see the show from start to finish.

Definitely. BB was always fairly implausible.

It suffered from overexposure at the end, with lot of Johnny Come Latelys Monday Morning Quarterbacking.

    (How's that for a double-cliched metaphor?)

It didn't bother me. I just thought it was a funny line.

She laundered money and participated in the conspiracy. She's not getting house arrest. The "point" is that this is their jobs.

But all the bad parts of that besides the gun shot were known before the finale.

I do think the finale will play better as just the last episode when people Netflix/DVD the final season rather than as a Final Episode Event!

I still think I'll be unhappy with so much relative happiness. I was rooting for Todd.

Again, I liked the episode. I wasn't disappointed by the episode, only the final resolution.

It is a funny line ... that went right over Hondo's head.
