I would have voted for Obama — until today. I hate voting for the lesser of two bad choices and that's where I find myself.

    Gawker is not impressed.

    Their point is well-taken.

You have to respect a man who stands up for what he believes in when he's forced to.

I don't understand Obama's campaign strategy. (If there is one.)

It would seem to me that the time to take a position is before a vote on the issue.

The North Carolina went beyond merely barring gay marriage, they already had a law that did that. Republicans wanted the ban etched into the state constitution. And, they also forbid civil unions and domestic partnerships.

Perhaps, the president is doing his best to draw a distinction between himself and Republican policies, something that doesn't seem to have been very important to him, until now. His first term, with the exception of the stonewalled healthcare reforms, has been pretty much indistinguishable from the Bush presidency.

Oh, and he needs to dump his secretary of state and vice-president, for reason that have nothing to do with marriage equality.

Is this an attempt at humor? I'm confused.

The thing to me that makes this revised stance seem even more gutsy is that a bill is not attached to it.

It's just Obama stating his position. Historically he will have nothing to show for it. Johnson's decision on Civil Rights had a bill attached to it that has stood the test of time. Obama's announcement, while historic will fade over time as states continue to debate the issue.

Seems to be an attempt at expressing his opinion.

Can we still do that here?

Well, if he wants his opinion to read as if he now won't vote for Obama because Obama now publicly supports gay marriage, that's his right. But he doesn't have a posting history of an OT or a Mark2010, so I think I would like some further opinion from him on the matter.

Why not. Mr. Rogers was the only person left who hasn't flipped me off on here.

No, but my European-born girlfriend (who grew up in Bamfuque Europe, for what it's worth), wishes I was more gay European.

Indeed. My address is 11 Wall Street, New York, NY 10005. It's why I am so nyse.

I've bought and sold lots of stuff in my life. I have never owned a bond. Well, maybe a savings bond that an aunt gave me when I was 8. Is that what you had in mind?
