Again: Who does it hurt? How does it hurt them?

Obama's stand clearly points out that this is going to be a race of sides. For those wanting to go back to life as it was or to those who remember the past and embrace the future. It's the haves and the have nots;the gay against the straight;the Black against the White. The employed against the unemployed.
This will not end well for many.

If this is indeed the case, great campaign slogan by Obama: "Forward."

But consider that many "inappropriate" (to some people) things may be wired into our genetic code. Now you can try to draw the line at "what hurts somebody", but even that is fuzzy. Say someone is wired to need to expose himself. Doesn't "hurt" anyone, but he's certainly not going to be allowed to act on that behavior. There are all kinds of things that we may be "wired" toward that society insists we need to suppress.

We have laws that prevent adult establishments from opening a certain distance from schools. Even though the establishments do not in an of themselves hurt anyone, the "I don't want my child walking past that on his way to school" dynamic trumps it, and thus the adult business is treated differently than someone wanting to open an ice cream store.

Mark's point, I believe, is that we all have different levels of what we consider appropriate, what we think "hurts" society. He sees (as I do, sometimes) where we are leaning toward a society where nothing is "wrong" anymore; everything is just "alternative."

Unless the societal condoning of homosexuality causes God to remove his favor and protection from the country. Then it does hurt everyone who lives there.

I know, I know, but that's the argument.

I wish it were that simple. There are many points which I agree with Obama. Other points I tend to agree with Romney. So I guess it comes down to which points you consider more significant.

I'm thankful I don't have to make that choice. I'll sit this one out and let the masses decide what they want. I see valid arguments on both sides.

This was sent to me by someone far more conservative than I. I suspect many will disagree, but here it is:

“‘If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads. " (Lev. 20:13)

Here we go. Haven't you heard? The New Testament renders the Old Testament moot. Already being argued here: http://www.sportsjournalists.com/forum/threads/88746/

This would seem to be the personification of the credo, "Point a finger and 1,000 others point back at you."

If you say something as outlandish as this, you need to explain why you can't legally do these things.
