Back on Page 1, I would have laid 1/5 odds on the thread developing in this fashion.

Yep, some of these people are a trip.

Hey, I don't expect everyone to agree with me. But I'm not going to just knuckle under and agree with them, either. Life goes on.

Enter Mark (speaking to the hostess): "Hey there, toots, here's a Washington, make sure I get in a section with a normal waiter, if you know what I mean"

Yeah, but we were all playing nice for so many pages...

I have to admit, I find open bigotry in modern America repulsive, yet fascinating.

I mean, it's 2012. A black man is President. Barney Frank is getting married soon. Ellen Degeneres is boring enough to be on daytime TV.

The sheer cognitive dissonance it must take to process the world each day the way Mark does would stun the entire Bravo programming department in its tracks.

Prejudiced and proud! Good for you.

Are you really so naive as to think just because the calendar reads 2012 that human nature is any different than it was in, say, 1012?

As for Bravo, never watched it, doubt I ever will. Society itself is enough of a cesspool without feeding my mind with televised crap.

Mark, Does your distaste of gays extend to lesbians or just men loving men?

Zeke, if you think Mark's living in a vacuum, you're mistaken. There are huge pockets of America that still think this way.

Is it as fascinating when the racist/bigot is older?

Are we more tolerant of their intolerance than we might be of someone who is 30 who has similar views?

So human nature is OK if it means fearing and hating people who are different.

Human nature is not OK if it means fiddling with the genitals of a person of the same sex?
