60 Minutes piece from a few years ago...

For those of you really into stats and math, this will be very interesting. Something is going on, the math is tells us it is.

Yeah, but that Pauline passage (from the letter to the Romans) was written after Jesus' death ...

Give how intense Paul was on one side of the Jesus issue one part of his life, then flipped to the other side with just as much intensity, he was the David Horowitz of his day.

The nice thing about the Bible is that it is the "inspired" word of God, written by men. So, the men could have gotten it wrong.

The Koran (and the Book of Mormon -- though, they allow for further Revelation) is the dictated word of God. There can't be any errors.

Paul was an early leader in the Church, but he never even met Jesus, right? Certainly Paul could have gotten some things wrong.

The best thing for me -- as a shitty Catholic -- about Christianity is that you never have to explain away any of Jesus' words, actions, or teachings.

Whoops. An unfortunate reference to Washington Rep. Norm Dicks.

There are plenty of Christians who take everything in the Bible literally. We are not among those. The joke with my kids and I is that God was ready to create the universe in seven days, but before he created anything, he created a scribe, and told him, "Get this all down."

But, yeah, I would agree that you're generally not going to go wrong following Jesus' example. What Jesus said in the Bible about man-on-man or man-on-dog marriage: nothing. What today's modern Pharisees, so in love with the letter of the law, don't seem to get is that Jesus generally reserved his middle fingers for people like them.
