You might dig a little deeper ... those were not "homosexual marriages" of the type we're talking about/debating these days.

Of course. Then again, Bristol has already proven herself to be a hyprocrite by supporting abstinence for teens, except for herself, naturally.

Yes, yes, of course ... if you ever believed in one thing and then didn't live up to those beliefs, you're a hypocrite.

I believe it's closer to, "if you PREACH for others to do one thing while doing the opposite, you are a hypocrite."

Lots of people are weak and cannot live up to their beliefs. They know that 2,400-calorie meal at McDonald's is bad for them but eat it anyway. Not a hypocrite.

But if they PICKET the restaurant for serving unhealthy food and then grab a bite there before heading home? Hypocrite.

Look, that she had a child out of wedlock doesn't make her a hypocrite for saying "Don't have a child out of wedlock." She'd be a hypocrite if she continued to pop 'em out, but that hasn't been the case.

What's the over/under on how many times you can preach A and do B before the label fits?

Seems to me a candidate who rails against public funding for stadiums who then turns around and gets one funded with public money after being elected is a hypocrite.

Or does he have to get stadiums built for all four major sports before the label fits?

I don't know why people get so worked up over the word. We're ALL hypocrites to some degree. We ALL demand that drunk driver who killed the pedestrian to be punished to the fullest extent of the law . . . unless the drunk driver was our kid. It's almost human nature to be a hypocrite. But the ones who make their hypocrisy public will feel the most scorn.

Isn't the hypocrisy here defending the sanctity of traditional marriage and its hetero-positive modeling of children from the position of an unwed single mom?

Getting knocked up out of wedlock can happen in seconds. You can't build a $400 million stadium using taxpayer funds just by forgetting your rubber.

I was simply commenting on Baron's calling her a hypocrite because she'd had a child out of wedlock and then had the unmitigated gall to say, don't do this. That she shouldn't have said jack about this same-sex marriage business, I won't dispute.

Some poor copy editor is going to get roasted --- or worse --- over that one.

Very true. A lot of people who are dogmatic about something hold such views because of some terrible experience they had and don't want others to make the same mistakes.
