The President's ears look huge in both of those pictures.

Bet they don't end up framed on his wall as a result.

McCaskill has no political courage, as she's repeatedly shown during her term in office. Had high hopes for her, but she's pissed them all away.

There are going to be a bunch of Democrats who don't want same-sex marriage to be an issue in part because of their own lack of political courage, and in part because it's what they actually believe.

And while a majority of Americans support marriage equality, it's barely a majority. And there are significant pockets of resistance, and one of them is from a very large group of voters: those 55 and older.

The support for same-sex marriage is only going to grow, but we're not at a point yet where it's a slam-dunk. Which is what makes it hilarious, all these comments bleating that Obama did this just to gain votes. While it's wonderful America has gotten to a point where supporting marriage equality is seen as a means to GET votes (instead of lose them), it's not like there's a hue and cry among the masses to get this done. As North Carolina certainly proved.

If he did it to get votes, it was in an indirect way. I have seen some stories about how this re-energized donations from gay special interest groups. In whatever way that money can secure votes, I suppose that one could argue that the President is gaining votes from the announcement. It's certainly an attenuated connection, but that's the argument.

I guess you could also argue that it knocks Mitt Romney out of his comfort zone, which is talking about economics, and into talking about social issues, which frequently makes him look insincere and pandering.

It also cracks me up that Republicans are squealing that Obama is doing this as, in the words of John Cornyn, an "attempt to distract" from his record.

I think Republicans are getting more and more pissed that Obama has learned from them, and is using their own playbook against them. It's high-larious a party that has used social issues for more than 30 years as a wedge to drive votes is now upset a politician could be using social issues as a wedge to drive votes.

No. She hasn't voted the way she campaigned. She's done what Bill Clinton turned into an art form -- triangulation at best, acquiescence at worst. McCaskill has been a disappointment because she hasn't voted for those things she said she believed in.

Your response shows your bias, zag. Stick to speaking for yourself.
