Breaking: Obama supports gay marriage

I am not ashamed to call myself a Republican, but my stance on same-sex marriage is a lot different from traditional party orthodox.

I don't have any vested interest; I am straight but do have friends in the gay community.

Future generations are more progressive on this and any election that centers on values will tip in the Democrats' direction unless change is made.

That said, hey... I didn't vote for him, but I do applaud him taking a stand on the issue.

I just wonder at what price it will be. He may have just cost himself the election.

This race just got VERY interesting.

Obama was not going to win Colorado anyway.

As for North Carolina, no big deal. No one claims the state where you hold your party convention has to agree with you on every single issue. Party conventions are about cities making money.

It's kind of funny... On the crawl on Fox News right now it says, "Mitt Romney says he believes marriage should be restricted to ONE man and ONE woman."

    It just struck me funny...

The interesting thing about this is the vote raised a big flag about who voted to support and not to support.

A lot of support for Amendment 1 came from the black community.

Yes, the very same people who came out in droves to vote for Obama, and most likely in North Carolina, also turned down the chance to recognize same-sex marriage.

I suspect a lot of them attend fire-and-brimstone churches, the kind where the preachers say if you don't toe the church line you're going straight to hell.

    Just an observation. :)

    It's big news, today.

In the grand scheme of issues in the campaign, it's not even in the top 10.

After careful consideration, as well as engaging a team of pollsters, consultating with my largest corporate and individual donors, and having a team of lackeys weigh the possible fallout, I can now say that I emphatically support gay marriage. Long live Liberace, Clay Aiken and Mr. Rogers, and may they live in holy matrimony should they choose! God bless America, and Joe Biden too.

This issue doesn't affect me one bit.

The price of gas does. The unemployment rate does. The possibility of war with Iran marginally does. There are far bigger issues for me.

We all know your biggest issue, so just can it, huh?

I think that's the case for most people. But, he still should be applauded for taking a stance on something just because it's the right thing to do, even if it's not the politically smart thing to do.

He just wants everybody to be able to be as bigoted as they want to be. Is that such a hard thing to ask for?

Mr. Rogers wasn't gay. He was married with children.

Did you decide this while sipping wine on your roof, with your European born girlfriend?

    You snob.
