I hate Favre and I hate the Vikings, but how can you argue with this move?

Favre needs a team with a star running back and a good offensive line and Minnesota needs an upgrade at QB.

The only question which needs to be asked is this -- would he be an upgrade over Tavarias Jackson?

I don't think there is any question this one. Hell Dan Fouts coming out of retirement would be an upgrade over Tavarias Jackson.

Do they also need Locker Room Poison?

While Favre is an upgrade over Tarvaris and probably Rosenfels, too, what I don't get is that the Vikings seemed to stand pat when Matt Cassell and Jay Cutler were available. Maybe they were in the mix for both of those guys, but it didn't seem like it. Yet they're obsessed with getting Favre -- 40 years old, possibly hurt, possibly playing out of spite.

That's because Childress is as much of a spiteful child as Favre is. The Vikings have never been a bright organization.

Personally, I think I'd opt for Rosenfels over a 40 year old Favre.

That is a much better point -- there were other guys to be had and they did nothing to try and get them.

Its a tough decision. The Vikings don't need qb to throw 30+ tds. They just need a qb who won't fuck up and throw a bunch of picks(ala Kerry Collins,Chad Pennington). Why they would go after the league leader in ints last season, I have NO idea.

That last pass lead directly to the loss. He threw off his back foot and blew the game. He is a HOF'er but he is also a lying piece of shit and an overrated teammate who has been protected by the Peter King and Mortenson.

If TO was doing this crap, ESPN would be condemning him to hell for life.

    This from Don Banks....

"You know what really cracks me up about this latest twist in Favre's self-indulgence? Every time there's another Favre flip-flop coming on the retirement front, every veteran Favre-watcher in the media who had no idea what he was going to do about retirement the past five times feels compelled to tell us once again they have no idea what he's going to do this time.

Well, no kidding. Can we all just assume that no one knows what Favre is going to do at this point, given that even Favre doesn't know himself? Isn't that a tad obvious? The guy is incapable of making up his mind and sticking to it for an entire offseason. We get it. So why do the "experts'' feel the need to remind everyone of just how inaccurate they've been?"

Hmmmm.....PK often sings the praises of Don "Donnie Brasco" Banks. Looks like ol' Donnie doesn't return the favor, at least here.

    Interesting.

Plus, Favre only has one year of playing in a major sports media market -- and see what happened last year. I'm still not sure if he can handle it.

In Minnesota -- at least with the Vikings -- the media plays hardball. It's definitely not Green Bay/Milwaukee/Madison.

As one who covered all of the aforementioned Favre playoff losses, save the Philly 4th and 26 debacle, I actually point to the 2002 Atlanta, 2004 Minnesota and 2007 NY Giants games as on Favre's shoulders. (The 2001 Rams were a buzzsaw and the defense really botched the Philly game).

The 13-3 Packer season was largely a factor of a soft schedule and decent teams making critical mistakes early in the season (WAS, PHI). Every year, one team plays way past its record and, that year, the Packers did it. I thought GB in 2007 wasn't a 13-3 team, much like I thought GB in 2008 was better than a typical 6-10 squad.

Of course -- what is the one thing that can destroy a Super Bowl contender.

    Locker room chemistry!

    Bring on Favre...
