"Careful. This is the moment when the supposedly retired quarterback comes back for one last fling."
    "Not in my NFL."

While Favre to the Vikings makes some sense from a quarterback standpoint (although his last five or six games last year plus the injury raise many red flags), the one thing that makes no sense to me is Childress. He seems like the last coach in the NFl who would want to put up with the certain media circus that would come with bringing Favre to the Vikings. He's also a coach who seems to want absolutely no surprises from the QB position and prefers a game manager, not a gunslinger. I just think Favre isn't a good fit -- other than he presents a significant upgrade to what the Vikings currently have.

Childress and Favre know each other well and the Vikings OC used to be Favre's QB coach.

If Childress has a brain in his head, he knows he's getting canned after this season if the Vikings don't do something.

Tends to clarify the mind, a bit.

Favre has been an INT = TD QB for three of the past four seasons.

As a Bears fan, other than how that would save Adrian Peterson's legs for another season, I wouldn't be at all upset to see this happen.

If he beats the Packers twice this season, he won't be getting canned.

Well, that shit ain't gonna happen. :D

And Rick, you realize that the other options are Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels, right?

Favre doesn't have to be awesome to be a major improvement. Competent would be an improvement.

Ask Eric Mangini how that worked out.

In a storybook sense, the perfect place for Brett, at this point in his career, would be as a backup to Drew Brees.
He'd need to take a pay cut, though.
And Brunell or Harrington's just as good.

The team that drafted him, Atlanta, seems a better fit though.
    Backing up Ryan.
Shockley and Redman are the current backups there.

Brett Favre isn't gonna be a backup to anyone. That aw shucks country boy's got an ego the size of the Mississippi River.

    A backup? Seriously?

Their other option is handing off to Adrian Peterson 425 times. That's much better than having Favre throw his 20+ picks.
