And that's a good point, IW. But assault weapons are used in far fewer crimes than a hot 9-mil or .45.

Let's outlaw alcohol so drunk-drivers won't be wiping people out. And, hell, let's outlaw cars because street racers might crash into a minivan filled with a family.

I agree with Sportschick, Inky, etc.: Hunting is still an important aspect of life in a lot of areas of the country. I know where I live now it is still a huge thing when hunting season comes around.

It's tough to have universal gun laws, given these circumstances. But something, obviously, has to be done. I'm not smart enough to know what.

On the SportsCenter I saw this morning, I assume recorded last night, it wasn't even mentioned on the "recap of the news" segment. Bob Knight, Fiesta, Rose and it seems like another item or two, but no mention of the frontline NFL player shot and killed while with a bunch of other frontline NFL and NBA players within 24 hours of the show being taped. I guess he shouldn't have gotten shot on a day when there's pressing issues such as Dwayne Jarrett "will he stay or will he go" talk and previews of the BCS champ game that won't be for about 5 more weeks. I mean, I understand really ... what are they supposed to cut? You can't have a SportsCenter without spending 20 minutes talking about "what woulda happened if USC hadn't lost two games."
