Completely agree. They probably tried to do what they did to Holmgren in Seattle and Shanahan refused.

This would surprise no one who has ever dealt with Shanahan.

Well, he is an A game coach. As a GM, a B.

I mean, he drafted Cutler, Marshall and a bunch of other good players.

    Well, fine.

Name one thing he has done since Alex Gibbs and his chop-blocking bullsh_t left Denver to take on other endeavors.

He's had three average years in a row.

    I'll give you that.

But, fuck, Americans have to be a little more patient than that.

Cowbell, he threw three defensive coordinators in front of the train. In at least two of those cases, the defense was NOT at fault. It was an inept offense, leaving the defense on the field 38-42 minutes a game. Ask the great defensive coordinators what kind of chance they have leaving their guys out there that long.

And the offense is on Mike Shanahan. So, in essense, that was his fault, not the DC's.

Yes, Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall were drafted. But numerous defensive failures - save the Redskins' idiocy of handing them Champ Bailey along with a second-round pick for Clinton Portis - were also tabbed. None of them, save for perhaps Elvis Dumervil and D.J. Williams, worked. Bad, bad, bad percentage.

And if you wish for Americans to be more patient, one could ask the same of Shanahan when he threw Jake Plummer in front of the train.

Patience? If ANYTHING, Pat Bowlen had TOO much patience.

It's a loss if Champ Bailey doesn't pick off Brady in the end zone and return it 100 yards before Ben Watson knocks the ball out of his hands.

Threw Jake fucking Plummer in front of a train? Are you serious? Plummer was an atrocious game manager, incredibly turnover-prone, and would blatantly miss WIDE-OPEN receivers. Like, wide open. He was garbage. I hate him, hate him, hate him. So there.

So you don't like him? OK, fine. No problem.

Tossing Jake Plummer on his butt didn't - and still doesn't - absolve Mike Shanahan of his responsibility. And putting Plummer there was Shanahan's decision. And as a Broncos fan, you know that Mike Shanahan wanted the whole world to know that the move was his decision.

As a Chargers fans who wouldn't mind an excuse to get Norv out of there, I honestly believe he would have to lose 81-0 on Saturday and then punch out Tony Dungy during the postgame handshake for him not to be back on the San Diego sideline next year.

Norv isn't going anywhere, at least for another year.

    As for Jake "I'm . . . staring . . . at . . . my . . . primary . . . receiver" Plummer,
the upside was always going to be . . . well . . . limited.

he'll be fine wherever he goes, as long as he isn't granted any power as a GM/President of Football operations type job.
