How are the religious being discriminated against by not being able to force their prayers onto the non-religious?

Please explain how there is any religious discrimination in my post that asks for equal schooling for all and the protection of the separation of church and state. The rhetorical twister you would have to play to back this one up would be fun to see.

You think throwing more good money after bad will "fix the public schools"? You can't fix the schools by throwing more money at them. That's been proved time and time again.

It's almost not fair to blame the schools in some cases. Until the inner-city cultures are fixed, the schools will remain a complete and unfixable mess. But there are schools in inner cities that are taking inner-city children and succeeding in educating them. The reason they're succeeding is they're not bound by the union rules and the ridiculous rules handed down by ridiculous administrators. Yet the schools that are having success -- the schools that parents are lining up to get their kids into -- are the ones you want to call the bad guys.

There's a quote about the definition of insanity. Look it up.

Again, this gets back to your definition of success. Private school numbers are skewed because they leave out a significant part of the population. They don't just leave out the poor. They leave out the kids who don't have parents, or the ones whose parents don't care about school.

You really think private schools don't have "ridiculous administrators?" That's funny. Ignorant, but funny.

You want to break teacher's unions? (Because really, that seems to be another one of your goals). Great. Chase more qualified and talented people out of the business. If there is less protection of teachers, those jobs become less attractive.

Private schools can get around state standards in curriculum. That means lower standards, not higher, in many cases. They can also hire teachers and administrators who have had less rigorous training.

Seriously, do some research about East Ramapo. It is a smaller version of what you are proposing and it is a disaster.

Also, it would be lovely if you would simply admit that one reason you are pushing this is because you want the state to pay for religious education. A little honesty from your end would be a refreshing change.

You couldn't possibly be more full of shit. I don't give a damn about making the state pay for "religious education." But since you're so good at assigning motives, why bother with the real ones.

My apologies. I should have known better than to expect an honest reply from you on this matter. I regret wasting the board's time.

Of course, you didn't respond to the rest of my post because you can't. Thank you for playing, tony.

And now YF is stalking me, dragging discussions among threads. I really must have hit home when I pointed out your desire to keep Muslims out of the country. Having that part of yourself exposed must be troubling.

The best part is you posted on the other thread about repetitiveness in my posts. The lack of self-awareness involved in your decision to post that truly makes me smile.

Yeah, those high standards in many big-city public schools are a problem. A bunch of Little Harvards in Chicago and elsewhere.

You prefer no standards at all? That's funny.
