Ironic given that these rating agencies improperly
rated the securities that got us into this mess.
This development pretty much secures us a new
President in 2012 when interest rates are through
the roof. We are on our way to jimmy carter II.

Tea Party wanted change and they got it. Unprecedented.

And that would mean a Ronnie II. Even worse.

That's an accurate reflection of American demographics, Boom. What percentage of Americans do you think make over 100,000?

    It's about 7%. And 20% if we're talking households.

Another great adventure in false equivalency.

Letting Bush era tax rates expire = soaking the rich. Yep. What a disaster!

The credit rating downgrade is indeed troubling. I wonder how the markets will react on Monday.

Interest rates through the roof? Yesterday, short-term treasuries were so in demand they had a negative yield; that's right, investors saw U.S. debt as so safe (relatively speaking) that they were willing to PAY to own it. So, one day and one S&P rating change later, things have changed radically?

True but it still does not mitigate how imperfect this poll is. Off course most are going to say yes to higher taxes to those with income over $250,000.

For all the talk about the wisdom of markets, "the market" is full of fucking morons. They willingly bought and sold the dressed-up-as-roses horseshit that brought us to the abyss. Now apparently "the market" has just discovered a lot of people are out of work and that the new Tea Party Congress is full of fuckwits. Fuck "the market."
